Can you tell us a bit about your background?

My name is Malar (also known as Sangee). I am from Penang, Malaysia and I am a mother of three beautiful children. We came to Australia in 2018 and I love cooking authentic Malaysian food. All the sauces and the curries found in Sangee’s Kitchen are made from scratch with my own recipes.

Who is involved in running your business? Who is your business partner (if any), or who works together with you?

My three beautiful children are involved in running my business with me! They support me and help me to build this business.

What’s the best part about running your own business?

I love to cook. I enjoy the smell, taste, and flavour of spices in my dishes. I get such joy from it and feel happiest when cooking. That is the best part of running this business.

What’s the highlight so far with running your business?

My customer’s feedback is always a highlight. They motivate me to cook the healthiest and most flavourful dishes!

Any exciting future plans you can share about your business?

One day, I hope to have my authentic recipes reach the wider market and more people can enjoy and celebrate my food.

Anything else you’d like to tell us about you and/or your team?

My children are my supportive team ❤️ Apart from them, people from FoodLab and Welcome Merchant are my strongest pillars of strength.
