Tayta AMAL & Serena Tajjour
COVID-19 LOCKDOWNS DIDN’T DAMPEN THE SPIRIT OF THIS MOTHER-DAUGHTER DUO. THEY TURNED CHALLENGING TIMES INTO A BURGEONING FAMILY BUSINESS, CHURNING OUT DELICIOUS MAAMOULS MADE FROM TRADITIONAL RECIPES AND BRINGING THE FAMILY EVEN CLOSER TOGETHER.
Can you tell us a bit about your background?
We are a mother and daughter duo, passionate about preserving and sharing our family traditions with the world.
How did you get the initial idea to start your business?
The idea came to us during the COVID-19 pandemic when many of our family members and friends began requesting our homemade maamoul. This traditional treat became a way for us to stay connected and bring joy to our loved ones during challenging times.
Who is involved in running your business? Who is your business partner (if any), or who works together with you?
We work closely with our aunties, who help us make the maamoul. It’s a traditional labour of love that has brought our family even closer together.
What’s the best part about running your own business?
The best part is definitely the fun and togetherness it brings. Making maamoul is a joyful process that allows us to connect and bond with each other.
What’s the highlight so far with running your business?
The overwhelming support and love from our family and friends. Their encouragement has been instrumental in our journey.
Any exciting future plans you can share about your business?
Yes, we are thrilled to announce that we will be opening a store in Belmore soon! This is a big step for us, and we can’t wait to share our maamoul with the wider community.
Anything else you’d like to tell us about you/your team/your business?
We are incredibly grateful for the support of our family and friends. Their love and encouragement have made this journey possible. We look forward to continuing this tradition and bringing joy to more people through our maamoul.
