Second Stitch

Second Stitch is a social enterprise that empowers women from diverse backgrounds, both economically and socially through the use of textiles. They provide subsidised training in textile production for migrant, refugee and asylum seekers. The team of seamstresses at Second Stitch can repair your much-loved garments and also make beautiful products for the shop in Coburg. Top selling items are circular velvet cushions, scrunchies, face masks and re-usable vege bags. Yes Please!

The Social Studio

Social Studio is a not-for-profit using up-cycled fashion as a vehicle for social change. Since opening their storefront on Smith St, Collingwood over a decade ago, Social Studio has built a sustainable business ecosystem that has provided education and employment opportunities for more than 780 youth from migrant and refugee backgrounds. Run don’t walk to get your hands on some stunning clothes, accessories, bags, scarves, socks and more.

South Asian Today

‘South Asian Today is Australia’s first media start-up for South Asian women and non-binary peoples.’ They create financial opportunities for South Asian creatives, journalists, and storytellers who have historically lacked representation in the media. South Asian Today believes in ‘independent journalism and highlights stories with a focus on race, gender, politics, caste, class, health and media representation.’
